St. Mary’s High School

St. Mary’s High School:

In the year 1919, started as a Lower Primary school at a building near to Palikkara market. The school known as V.V school in the olden time and hence being the title as S.M.P school, then decided to shift the school to Morakkala and in 1941 the required land bought and registered to the church. The works have started under the overseeing of a four member school managing committee. A member from the said committee has been selected as the school manager. The first school manager was Sri. C.M. George Tharakan. In the year 1944, the construction completed and the school shifted to Morakkaala. In that olden era, the salary for the teachers was given by the church as grant. In the year 1955, a system started like the Government directly paid the salary and the grant stopped. In 1956 January the church arranged Sri. C.J Mathew Tharakan and Sri. K.A. George to apply the school rise in to the dignity of a U.P School. Their effort has been succeeded and in the year 1962, the Government published the circular announcing the U.P School up gradation, at the same year the classes started. Again in the year 1965, applied for the up gradation of High School status. In 1968 May the Government published the circular announcing the up gradation as High School. Inaugurated and started classes in the year 1968 June 3rd , in 1969 new building constructed for the High School necessities at the western side and hon. Educational Minister Sr. C.H Mohamed Koya inaugurated the newest school premises. In 1973, for L.P Division – bought land the building constructed. The L.P section classes shifted to the new division. The English Medium classes have started from 5th standard in the educational year 1986 - ’87,

In 1997, the efforts have started under Sri.Sunny Paul (school manager) to raise the school in to Higher Secondary status, due to the meaningful efforts of the said school manager, the Government published a circular informing the details about the plus two schools in which the St. Mary’s High School included. The building construction for the plus two classes fast moves forward. Presently, there are 60 teachers and 5 non teaching staff are working in this school and obviously he school is an ideal dominance of the socio/cultural activities of our church.

St. Mary’s English Medium L.P School:

In the year 1986 June, there was an English Medium L.P School started at the western side built premises of the church. This school is especially meant for the ordinary and middle class, the fees tariff is comparatively very low, this school is a boon for the natives. From L.K.G to 4th standard, here the classes available. Sri. M.C. Varghese (retiree from St. Mary’s High school) serves as the Principal. There are 7 teachers and 3 non teaching staff is working at St. Mary’s English Medium L.P. School.
